PPE: Eye protection mandatory at all times in the shop zone.
Band Saw Safety: Guard adjusted to 1/4" above workpiece before power-on. Maintain a minimum 2" margin of safety distance from the blade to your hand; use push sticks for small work or narrow stock.
Relief Cuts: Mandatory relief cuts on all inside corners (especially on T, S, Z, L, and J pieces) before tracking the layout line to avoid binding or twisting the band saw blade.

Layout & Accuracy
Squareness: Check raw stock and square lines with a try square or combination square before cutting.
Grid Consistency: All pieces are composed of uniform unit squares. Layout tolerance must be within 1/32" across all dimensions so pieces interlock cleanly during play.

Band Saw Cuts: Cut on the waste side of the line. Saw kerf should leave the pencil line intact for final cleanup.
Inside Corner Cleanup: Clean out radius left by band saw cuts using hand chisels or rasp files to ensure tight 90 degree inside corners.

Sanding & Surface Prep: Uniform flush sanding across all faces. Light chamfer/break on all edges to remove wire edges and tear-out while keeping fit tight.
Painting & Color Coding: Apply paint only after surface prep passes inspection. Each of the 7 piece types (I, O, T, L, J, S, Z) must be assigned and painted its own distinct color across all matching pieces. Maintain thin, even coats to prevent paint buildup from interfering with fit tolerances and I should be able to see the grain through the wood.

Biscuit Joinery & Alignment: Cut matching biscuit slots along the mating edges using the biscuit jointer. Ensure the fence is referenced cleanly off the same face of both boards to guarantee a flush joint.
Glue Application & Clamping: Apply PVA wood glue evenly inside the slots, on the biscuits, and along the entire edge face. Clamp the assembly tightly with bar or pipe clamps until glue squeeze-out appears, verifying that the glued panel sits flat and square across all corners.
Cure Time & Surface Preparation: Allow the glued panel to cure completely under clamp pressure. Once fully dry, scrape away glue squeeze-out and plane or sand the joint flat and seamless before layout.

Dimensional Sizing & Geometry: Mill raw stock down to a precise, uniform cube matching your established unit square size (within a 1/16" tolerance) so all faces sit perfectly square at 90 degree angles.
Layout & Dot Alignment:
I / Line Symbol: Requires the player to stack an I-piece (straight 4-unit block).
O / Square Symbol: Requires the player to stack an O-piece (2x2 square block).
Corner / L / J Symbol: Allows the player to choose and stack either an L-piece or a J-piece.
Zig-Zag / S / Z Symbol: Allows the player to choose and stack either an S-piece or a Z-piece.
T-Shape Symbol: Requires the player to stack a T-piece.
Player's Choice / Wild Face: Allows the player to pick any piece of their choice from the remaining pool.
Drilling Precision: Use a drill press with a depth stop or brad-point bit to drill uniform, shallow indents for each pip. Ensure depth and diameter are consistent across all faces without tear-out or wandering.
Edge Treatment & Sanding: Lightly break/chamfer all 12 edges and corners evenly using sandpaper or a hand block to prevent chipping and allow smooth rolling, while avoiding over-sanding that distorts the cube's flat faces.
Finishing: Sand all faces smooth. Apply paint.
