Each feature of an object must be dimensioned fully so that no further calculation is required.
No Redundancy: Do not give the same dimension in two different views or provide a dimension that can be calculated from others.
Dimensions should be placed where they are easiest to read and relate to the part's shape.
Outside the Part: Keep dimension lines and text outside the object's boundary whenever possible.
Between Views: Place dimensions between views (e.g., between the Front and Top views) to show how they relate.
Staggering: If you have multiple parallel dimension lines, stagger the numbers so they don't crowd each other.
Group Dimensions: Keep related dimensions together
Extension Lines: These start away from the object to prevent confusion with the object’s outline.
Dimension Lines: These should be broken in the middle for the text ending with arrows.
